Silver jewelry

This is going to have you scratching your head. The Silver Jewelry Club (silverjewelryclub.com) offers high-quality jewelry including silver rings, earrings, pendants and bracelets (most of them with genuine gemstones). It really is free, provided you pay the modest shipping charge of $5.99. We’re not talking junk here. As a consumer, your humble columnist, who is allergic to nickel silver, can attest to the remarkable quality of these pieces.

Why’s it free? Giving away jewelry is SJC’s way of introducing their products-they also sell their jewelry through wholesalers and stores. I have never received a single solicitation from the company.

REQUEST A THREE MONTH PRESCRIPTION

56586291

Pay one co-pay instead of three. If you take a prescription medication on a regular basis, ask your doctor to write a three month prescription instead of one. Why pay three co-pays when you can only pay for one. Save 1/3rd to 2/3rd by purchasing 90-day prescriptions.

GET ORAL EXAM AND/OR CLEANING IN DENTISTRY SCHOOLS

dental_smile_logoSave on Dental services at local specialized schools. If you do not have dental insurance, check out your local dental school where you can get most of your dental needs fulfilled at a reduced cost. Call in advance for an appointment block out about two hours for an exam.  Do a search on Google or the Yellow Pages for listings near you.

Don’t be too concerned about the quality of work. The students who perform these services are about to graduate (not first-year students) and all services are supervised by licensed instructors (you can always check the schools and instructors’ credentials for your peace of mind). According to Daily News 1/29/09 City Smarts’ spread, “[Dentists-in-training] need real people to practice on; thus, costs are heavily discounted (often by 50% or more)… Two of the best dental schools in NYC are (www.nyu.edu/dental/patientinfo) or Columbia (www.dental.columbia.edu/patients/sdosclinics.html) SAVES $75 for a cleaning, hundreds for specialized care.”

If you do not want to do your own nails and save yourself at least $300 (i.e. figure $25 a month for 12 months) or cut your visits in half and save $150 a year, then consider going to Beauty schools to get your hair, nail, waxing, and makeup done. Search Google or the Yellow Book for local listings for Cosmetology, Esthetician and Massage Therapy schools.

$ Go to www.SpaBeautySchools.com type in your zip code and find your local Spa & Wellness Schools. This site gives you local listing of a variety of schools that ranges from Acupuncture & oriental medicine, aromatherapy, physical therapy, reflexology, yoga/pilates, chiropractic and feng shui to massage therapy.

footIf you do not have schools in your area but still want to save on these spa and beauty services, purchase salons “Passport;” the first services are usually half price. And sometimes if you’ve purchased a certain number of services you can get one treatment free of charge.

Have no intensions of using all the services in the passport? Then split the cost with friends or a friend, give the service as a gift or even sell it for a reasonable profit to someone who is willing to pay for it.

Limited Time: Free Cosmetics at Department Stores

cosmetics1

Did you know that Department stores are giving away free cosmetics as part of a settlement from a class-action suit that alleges price gouging by Department stores and big-name cosmetics makers.  Stores like Saks, Bergdorf’s, Bloomingdale’s, Lord & Taylor and Macy’s were some of those Department stores found gouging.  If you purchased cosmetics during the period of May 29, 1994 through July 16, 2003 from a list of products at the site listed below, you are entitled to one FREE cosmetic.

This is time sensitive: The giveaway began Tuesday, January 20, 2009 and runs through C.O.B. Monday, January 26th.

You can get products such as Chanel body lotion, Armani Code shower gel, Estee Lauder Advance Night Repair, Sarah Jessica Parker Lovely shower gel, Lancôme black mascara and lots more.  For a list of the line of cosmetics, go to http://www.cosmeticssettlement.com/.

The policy says, only one item per customer.  However, previous customers said that they have taken male friends with them who care less for cosmetics and have gotten free items for them.

Go check it out!

The 2010 Census – A Great Way to Earn Extra Money

us_census

[Excerpted from the US Census Bureau]

The U.S. Census Bureau is recruiting temporary part-time census takers for the 2010 Census. The pay is good, the hours are flexible, and the work is close to home. Besides good pay, you’ll have flexible hours, paid training, and the chance to work within your own community. You’ll earn a place in history, as well as work experience you can add to your resume.

Census taker jobs are excellent for retirees, college students, persons who want to work part-time, persons who are between jobs, or just about anyone who wants to earn extra money while performing an important service for their community.

Every 10 years, we conduct a census of our population. The results help determine your representation in government, as well as how federal funds are spent in your community on things like roads, parks, housing, schools, and public safety.

Thousands are needed for temporary jobs. Census takers receive competitive pay on a weekly basis. In addition, you will be reimbursed for authorized mileage and related expenses.

Bilingual speakers are encouraged to apply!

Apply today by contacting your Local Census Office or by calling 1-866-861-2010!
