Want Something for Free? Just Ask for It!!!

Ask for One Month’s Rent Free:

It is difficult for landlords to find great tenants to fill vacancies.  If you are a reliable and good tenant any landlord today would be willing to accomodate you.  You can either ask for a break or try extending the lease.  By extending the lease you can make a deal to pay less on your rent for agreeing to stay longer.  Think about it, both sides wins.

Get a Free Workout with a Trainer:

Stop by your local gym and tell them you are new in the area and  you are looking to find the right gym or studio to join.  You’d be surprise of the complimentary class or free trial period offered to you.

Free Night Out:

Look in your newspaper and check out the culture section that has information about openings at art galleries and various cultural events.  Also, check out metromix.com.  You can go to events that offer free wine, cheese and entertainment or “visual stimulation.”

Free Hotel Upgrade:

Just ask for it.  Many hotels carry empty rooms.  Say to the receptionist or manager, “can I get an upgrade for my stay here?”  Most likely, you’ll be happy you asked.

Free Shopping Spree:

Join freecycle.org for e-mail alerts about clothes, appliances, housewares, electronics and other items that locas are giving away.  If you are looking for a specific item, don’t be afraid to post it.  You might just get what you request.

Saving Soon is More Important than Saving Big

You have heard this many times before, “Pay Yourself First!”

Well, how many of you actually do this.  You do not have to start with big bucks, you just have to start with what you can afford and keep the end in mind.  Remember, if you fail to plan you will plan to fail.  According to Staci Johnson from Money Talks, “Saving Soon is More Important than Saving Big.”  WELL SAID

See if you are Eligible for Safelink?

SafeLink Wireless is a government supported program that provides a free cell phone and airtime each month for income-eligible customers.

A friend of mine said if you had HEAP in the past, you can qualify for SafeLinksafelink.  Its one phone per household.  You don’t have to provide any proof if you check HEAP.   This is great if you know someone who can’t afford a cell phone.  You automatically get 60 minutes a month for free for a year.

For example, if you live in NY, through SafeLink Wireless’ Lifeline Service you can receive:

  • A FREE SafeLink Wireless phone
  • A FREE cellular plan that gives you 68 Minutes every month

You qualify for Lifeline Service in your area if…

  1. You already participate in one of the following assistance programs:
    • Family Assistance
    • Food Stamps
    • Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP)
    • Medicaid
    • Safety Net Assistance
    • Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
    • Veteran’s Disability Pension
    • Veteran’s Surviving Spouse Pension
  1. Lifeline Benefits is part of a program that was created by the government to provide discounted or free telephone service to income-eligible consumers. To help bring you this important benefit, SafeLink Wireless is proud to offer Lifeline Service. Through our Lifeline Service you will receive FREE cellular service, a FREE cell phone, and FREE Minutes every month! Travel the World for Free: Be an Air Courier

air-courier1Excerpt from www.soyouwanna.com

An Air Courier is someone who travels without luggage to fill a seat a company has purchased in order to send goods or papers. So you simply take a seat that otherwise would be physically empty. Companies resell the tickets at massively discounted prices because they need a warm body to accompany their stuff and make sure it gets where it needs to go. It can also be cheaper for a company to sell the seat at a major discount than to send the stuff over via airmail. The benefits to the company are 1) the swift transportation of important items and 2) faster customs clearance than regular cargo.

The benefit to you is a cheap ticket, anywhere from 50% off or more. The drawback of being a courier is the possible lack of advance notice about your flight and traveling with only a carry-on bag, especially for longer trips. But it’s crazy cheap, especially for international flights.

Note that most courier travel companies require you to become their member for an annual fee. Some places to contact include:

* The International Association of Air Travel Couriers
* Worldwide Courier Association
* The Air Courier Directory
* Now Voyager Travel
* Global Courier Travel
* Courier Travel News
